They call me Pickle
Because I couldn’t say Mitchell as a toddler. I can now though, I swear.
I’ve been a guitarist for 16 years, and along the way, I’ve picked up bass, piano, and drums, plus about a million hours of YouTube University for recording, producing, mixing, and mastering. So I’m at least pretty good by now.
I call myself a Bedroom Engineer because I do all my mixing and mastering in a glorified closet (which, let’s be real, does wonders for acoustics). My setup keeps my rates low—no Abbey Road Studios here. More like Shabby Road (the setup, not the sound quality, trust me!).
Specs of My Setup
All mixing and mastering are done in PreSonus Studio One 7 Professional
I use industry-standard plugins from Universal Audio, Antares, IK Multimedia, Kush Audio, Sonible, Waves, SSL, Slate, iZotope, Softube, and more—high-quality tools without the Abbey Road price tag
My setup is fully digital and in-the-box. It’s one way I can keep costs affordable—
no second mortgage for analog gear here (not that I could even afford a house in this economy, anyway)
Your music runs through a PreSonus Quantum ES 2 interface, monitored with Kali Audio LP-UNF studio monitors (decoupled through Tuneful Cables Sorbothane Hemisphere Pads), and a range of headphones (AKG K612, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, and AKG K371) powered by a JDS Labs Atom+ amp. All mixing is done in an acoustically treated space with foam absorbers and bass traps for a clean, accurate sound
Real-World Testing: I take the guesswork out of car tests and earbud checks by doing them for you, in average and less-than-optimal spaces. Your music is tested on car speakers, earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, bookshelf systems, and soundbars—both on high and low quality devices—to ensure it translates well in normal, everyday listening environments. This way, your mix sounds great everywhere, so you can focus on creating while I handle the rest
Mixing vs. Mastering – What I Bring to Each Process
Mixing: This is where I work on balancing, leveling, and blending each track’s elements—bringing out the details in vocals, guitar, and instruments. I use EQ, compression, reverb, and more to make sure each part shines
Mastering: Once your mix is solid, I take it through mastering for the final polish. This step ensures that your track is loud, clear, and optimized for all listening formats, using precise tools like limiting, stereo widening, and overall tonal balance
